The story seems to be loosely inspired by 'The City of Gods'. The opening is good but everything else falls flat soon afterwards. Sukumaran, with films like 'Aarya' to his credit, has come up with another beautiful film but sadly, it is highly unlikely that the plot would reach the audience.

Technically, the film is brilliant but the script leaves lots to be desired.

While everybody else dreams of growing up and getting into a good profession, the protagonist Shrinu has his own ambition- to become a notorious gangster. He also has a rolemodel, the local gangster named Manikyam.

Even after growing up, the ambition doesn't fade away and Shrinu decides to do something about his desire. He first befriends Manikyam's main henchman, Ladda. Soon, with his 'dedication' to work, he catches Manikyam's eye.

He is in love with Subbu and the feeling is mutual. Unexpected problems crop up when he ends up picking up a fight with the gang over his girlfriend. With that, the years of loyalty between Manikyam and him is forgotten and a vicious game begins between the two.

Shrinu now has to use everything that he had ever learnt about gangsterism against the man who had taught it to him in the first place. Not even his family is spared in this battle. In steps a very righteous, honest and dedicated Police Commissioner, played by Prakashraj, just to bring in a touch of goodness.

Ram, Isha
  You notice two things about the film- its excessive violence and very stylish cinematography. Rathnavel has handled the camera.

Devi Shriprasad has composed some brilliant tunes that suit the pace of the film.

There are some good moments in the film, in spite of a feeling of predictability- when the hero's brother too enters the underworld scene and gets killed. The film's heroine Isha is pleasing on the eyes. She doesn't have anything much to do but she does her role gracefully and disappears without being missed.

Pradeep Rawat, who has played the role of Manikyam, has experimented with his looks. You see a brand new get-up this time.

Ram, the film's hero, has come up with a brilliant performance in a film that could have been lot better had they only concentrated more on the script. He looks convincing as an unusual young man with weird ambitions. He also has a body language to match his ambition.

Pluses

* Ram's performance

* Rathnavel's camera

* Good editing

* Good music

Minuses

* Weak script

* A story that the audience fails to understand
