The audience normally expects a lot from MS Raju's films. Until now the acclaimed producer has delivered then exactly that and more. But when you watch 'Aata' you wonder if he had made a mistake this time.
For some reason, you can't help but end up making comparisons with 'Gudumba Shankar', but then, there is no denial in the fact that the film sure entertains.
Until now, the audience had only seen Siddharth as a rich boy or an NRI kid. This time, it is different.
He is Shrikrishna, a film-box delivery man and a projector operator at a local theatre. He runs into Sathya(played by Ileana), a very beautiful young woman. Sathya has an interesting flashback story. Vikki is the son of the Home Minister and he is very much interested in getting married to her. She isn't. When his tortures go a bit overboard, she decides to run from her house.
That is how she meets Shrikrishna.
Slowly and steadily, love blossoms between the two. Just when you think that the two are going to get married, Shrikrishna decides to take her back to her house. He has a big plan. Watch the film to find out what it is and how he executes it.
VN Adithya is the director but credit for the story and screenplay go to MS Raju.
Siddharth and Ileana look gorgeous with each other. If only she could get rid of her pimples, Ileana would easily be one of the most beautiful actresses around. Sunil's comedy is, as usual, very entertaining. You could even call it one of the biggest draws of the film.
The film is short. It runs for only about 2 hours. That's a big plus because it is able to sustain the audience's interest. This is especially important for a film which has a story that resembles that of another one.
The kissing scene filmed on Siddharth and Ileana has come out very beautifully. It almost is a welcome relief to see Siddharth in a role that is not his usual kind. Munna, the villain, is a newcomer and he looks promising. Chota K Naidu's cinematography deserves special mention for the brilliant ways in which he had filmed the song sequences.
The songs are okay, but are very predictable.
The Pluses:
Siddharth –Ileana onscreen chemistry
The duration of the film
Sunil's comedy
The Bad
Strongly reminds of 'Gudumba Shannkara'
Predictable flow of story, except the climax
