The film in Kannada turned out to be a blockbuster hit in spite of the fact that it had a very tragic ending. So when MS Raju announced that he was going to remake it in Telugu, everybody thought that he'd alter the film's climax to suit the audience's taste. Nobody likes to see the hero die in the end, however much they hate the story...
The story wasn't anything unusual- these days it has become an annoying trend to make films which have the heroes running after heroines who are engaged to be married to someone else.
In short, the film has bitten the dust at the box office.
