Kavithalaya, the film production company owned by the once acclaimed director K Balachander, is producing the film. For a while now, rumors were on that the company is running into financial crisis and was looking for a blockbuster hit. In fact, this was the reason why Rajinikanth had agreed to star in the film. He treats KB as his mentor. When they picked up the Malayalam film 'Katha Parayumbol' to remake in Tamil and Telugu, Rajinikanth had only agreed to make a guest appearance in the role of a superstar.
But as the film progressed, its director, P Vasu began to make some big changes in the story and when the final script was ready, it had become a complete Rajinikanth film.
Though Pasupathy is playing the more crucial role in the Tamil version, the film is going to be a superstar-flick.
Even before the film got completed, a distribution company had already acquired the rights for Rs 65 Crores.
Brilliant!
