Recently Amitabh Bachchan, amidst intense media-attention launched a new college in Uttar Pradesh for women and named it after his former Ms World daughter-in-law, Aishwarya.
The actor had been living in Mumbai for most part of his life, especially ever since he made his debut in films. This had inspired Raj Thackeray, the estranged nephew of Bal Thackeray, the Shiv Sena Supremo, to launch a verbal attack against the Bachchans.
"Are there no girl students in Maharashtra that Amitabh Bachchan went all the way to UP to build a college there? Why didn't he build the college here in Maharashtra?" he asked. Raj Thackeray is the head of the Maharashtra Navnirmaan Sena. The media expected trouble and therefore began camping outside the Bachchan residence.
In the middle of the night, two miscreants threw bottles at the residence and shouted anti-Bachchan slogans. The police deny that such an incident even took place.
